The Federal Communications Commission on Wednesday released the full unedited transcript and video of former Vice President Kamala Harris' "60 Minutes" interview, which Republicans have accused CBS News of deceptively altering.

CBS gave the commission copies of the interview and transcript, which is at the heart of President Donald Trump's $10 billion lawsuit. The president has accused the network of editing the interview in a way that makes Harris look better. The interview aired during the 2024 presidential election.

Trump sued the network in October, after an answer shown in a clip promoting the "60 Minutes" interview differed from the answer in the full interview that aired. Bill Owens, the executive producer of "60 Minutes," has maintained that the edits were done within standard journalistic practice.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr did not comment on whether the footage was deceptively altered, but said the FCC would open the topic for public comment given the high interest in the case.

"The FCC has concluded that establishing a docket and seeking comment on the issues raised in the complaint would serve the public interest. The people will have a chance to weigh in," Carr posted on X.

The first public hearing on the topic will take place March 7, and a reply is slated by March 24, according to the New York Post.

Although the FCC's transcript appeared to confirm that there were discrepancies between what was shown on the clip and in the full interview, CBS said it stood by its decision and released its own transcripts and videos.

"We are posting the same transcripts and videos of our interview with Vice President Kamala Harris that we provided to the FCC," CBS News wrote in a statement. "They show — consistent with 60 Minutes' repeated assurances to the public — that the 60 Minutes broadcast was not doctored or deceitful.

"We broadcast a longer portion of the vice president's answer on Face the Nation and broadcast a shorter excerpt from the same answer on 60 Minutes the next day," the network continued. "Each excerpt reflects the substance of the vice president's answer.

"As the full transcript shows, we edited the interview to ensure that as much of the vice president's answers to 60 Minutes' many questions were included in our original broadcast while fairly representing those answers. 60 Minutes' hard-hitting questions of the vice president speak for themselves."
