Flush with investor cash, Newmax's Chris Ruddy describes future plans and blasts AP wire service

Flush with new investment cash, Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy is pushing his media company in new directions, including a military channel, as he watches with amazement as legacy media continue to squander trust with American audiences.

During a wide-ranging interview with Just the News, Ruddy singled out The Associated Press wire service for bias, citing its refusal to change its style guide to recognize the Gulf of America.

"There was a day that the AP was fairly balanced," he told John Solomon Reports podcast. "I remember we signed up for the AP in 1998. We still have the AP. But I tell my friends over there at AP, you guys are weaponized. You're woke. You're politicized."

Ruddy said Newsmax already covers topics like health and financial news. However, the company plans to expand its coverage.

"We actually started a military channel on our app called 'World at War'," Ruddy said on the . "There was so much demand when we run documentaries on World War Two, the Vietnam Korean War."

Some of the documentaries are titled "American Soldiers Remember D-Day" and "Battleground: WWII."

Newsmax also has a page called "Newsmax Health" that has stories about diet, cancer and blood pressure.

Ruddy said that "woke" television doesn't usually run stories about the U.S. military. 

"It's very well watched by people on their home TV," he said. "So that's an area of growth for us, but we are growing. We still have a lot more to do."

He said that Newsmax will likely expand to business and sports as well. 

"Fox is still the big guy on the block, but they're not the same that they once were," Ruddy said.

He said that Newsmax is doing very well with cable, despite not being backed by any huge corporations.

"We had some friendly air support from a guy you may have heard of," Ruddy said. "His name is Donald Trump. We've had a lot of good things going on. But we don't have the billion-dollar backers."
