Fox Sports on Monday night projected that its viewership of Super Bowl LIX broke records on Sunday, with an average audience of 126 million U.S. viewers across television and streaming platforms.

The Philadelphia Eagles won their second Super Bowl title on Sunday, after defeating the Kanas City Chiefs in a 40-22 knockout, which thwarted the Chiefs' bid for an historic three-peat. The Chiefs won the 2023 and 2024 Super Bowls.

The numbers for Sunday's game are considered preliminary, with official results expected on Tuesday. The result includes early numbers from Nielsen, and they surpass last year's average of 123.7 million viewers on CBS, Nickelodeon, Univision and streaming platforms, according to the Associated Press.

Peak viewership occurred in the second quarter, with 135.7 million audience members. Early data also suggests that 14.5 million people watched the game on streaming platforms, including 13.6 million who streamed it on Tubi for free.

The game in New Orleans also drew a star-studded audience at the Super Dome, from Paul McCartney to President Donald Trump, and included a tribute to victims of the terror attack that rocked the city on New Years.
