Oscar-winning producer Stanley Jaffe, who produced "Kramer Vs. Kramer" and "Fatal Attraction," died on Monday at the age of 84 at his home in Rancho Mirage, California, his family announced.

Jaffe's cause of death was not immediately revealed, but his family said he died peacefully and a memorial service is being planned.

The producer was known for becoming the youngest studio head in Hollywood history, when he became the executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Paramount Pictures in October 1969, at the age of 29. During his stint he greenlighted films such as "Love Story" and "The Godfather," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“He will be remembered as a visionary, a philanthropist and a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend,” his family said in a statement. “His legacy of integrity, generosity and creativity will continue to inspire for years to come."

He received one Oscar for the 1970s film "Kramer Vs. Kramer," for which Meryl Streep also won Best Actress, and he was nominated for a second Academy Award for "Fatal Attraction."

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Melinda; children Bobby, Betsy, Alex, and Katie (Dan); grandchildren Jordan, Leo, Avery, Sabrina and Zoe; sister Marcia; and brother Ira.
