On his podcast, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, 81, called Kimmel "one of the most distasteful beings in this country."

On his "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show, Kimmel played the clip from the podcast during his monologue, saying that Giuliani "rose from the grave" to comment on the "ongoing drama involving" him, the New York Post reported

According to a statement posted Sunday on social media, Giuliani is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Kimmel made the comment after he joked a few days before the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner about first lady Melania Trump being an "expectant widow." Kimmel said he was referring to Trump being 79 and his wife being 56 years old.
