Major journalism group quietly removes terrorists names from list of slain 'journalists': report

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has removed eight confirmed terrorists from its widely circulated list of journalists killed in action. 

The removals were done without any public acknowledgment of the change, the Washington Free Beacon reported. Research from the media watchdog group HonestReporting shows that the eight names on the widely cited list disappeared between June 21 and July 9, and the IJF "has not issued a statement regarding this removal of names."

The IFJ is the world's largest group for journalists, claiming to represent "600,000 media professionals from 187 trade unions in more than 140 countries." 

The organization maintains a count of journalists killed in Gaza since the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks on Israel. The IFJ often promotes the claim that the Israeli army deliberately targeted journalists, citing its own list. The list is also cited by news organizations criticizing Israel's war operations. 

The Committee to Protect Journalists engaged in a similar removal process. Following reporting on the removal by the Free Beacon, the CPJ announced it was conducting a wholesale review of the list.
