Warner Bros. Discovery announced Thursday that investors voted to give the green light to a deal to combine the company with Paramount.

The vote was one of the last remaining hurdles to complete the $111 billion acquisition, which would bring ownership of two major movie studios, a global news network, and CNN under one roof headed by media proprietor David Ellison, according to The New York Times

The Justice Department has not yet approved the deal, and it must also get approval from international regulators.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta is scrutinizing the plan, and hundreds of directors, producers and actors have also voiced opposition, claiming it would undermine Hollywood's creative community.
