President Vladimir Putin's foreign policy adviser, , Yuri Ushakov, on Thursday rejected a 30-day ceasefire deal proposed earlier this week by Ukraine and United States.

The report comes as U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff is in Russia with plans to meet with Russia President Vladimir Putin about ending the 3-year-old war between the neighboring countries that started with Russia's invasion.

Ushakov reportedly dismissed the ceasefire proposal as a "breather" for Ukrainian troops.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian diplomats reached an agreement with U.S. officials including Secretary of State Marco Rubio to restore military aid and intelligence sharing to Ukraine in exchange for agreeing to an immediate, 30-day ceasefire deal.

Last week, President Donald Trump said he was considering putting banking sanctions and tariffs on Russia until a peace deal was made. He also urged Russia and Ukraine to "get to the table" before it's too late.
