President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet "in the coming days", the Kremlin confirmed Thursday.
Putin foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov said a location has been chosen, and that officials are aiming to hold the meeting next week, in an attempt to get Russia to end its roughly 3-year-long war with Ukaine, according to CBS News.
A White House official told the news outlet that Russia was "eager" to continue to meet with Trump.
This announcement comes after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Wednesday that the Kremlin officials have "expressed their desire" to meet with Trump and that the president is "open" to meeting with Putin and Ukraine leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
Special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Putin on Wednesday, the same day Trump imposed a 50% tariff on India due to their continued purchase of Russian oil.
