U.S. fighter jets twice intercepted aircraft over the weekend in restricted airspace above President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, North American Aerospace Defense Command said Sunday.

On Sunday, pilots used flares to draw the attention of the pilot of what NORAD called a "general aviation aircraft" that had flown into "temporarily restricted airspace." The agency said the incident occurred at 1:15 p.m. local time and that the craft was escorted out of the area without incident.

The airspace over Mar-a-Lago has a flight restriction that expands to a radius of 30 nautical miles when Trump is on site. The incident occurred while Trump was golfing at his West Palm Beach golf course.

NORAD said a similar incident occurred Saturday but provided no specifics.

"Twice in the past 48 hours, F-16 fighter jets from the Continental U.S. NORAD region responded to a general aviation aircraft over Palm Beach, FL, violating the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR)," NORAD wrote on the social media platform, X.

NORAD also said that since Trump returned the the White House on January 20, the agency has responded to 20 "tracks of interest" over the airspace.
