Florida resort cancels event whose date, agenda was J6 related, featured MTG
The event would have taken place on the third anniversary of the Jan. 6 capitol riot.
A Florida resort has reportedly canceled an event scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 6, the third anniversary of the capitol riot, because its agenda was purportedly related to the incident.
The Westgate Resort issued a statement Thursday in canceling the event that said it was "not aware" of the agenda.
“Please be advised that Westgate was not made aware of the purpose of this event when we were approached to host a book signing,” according to the statement acquired by The Hill newspaper.
The event was to be hosted by the Republican Party of Osceola County. And those who bought VIP tickets would have been able to partake in a “special private briefing on J6 and DC in a closed-door session” with Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the conservative firebrand from Georgia.
Attendees also were supposed to get a signed copy of Greene's memoir, "MTG."
"This is a rare opportunity to engage with a leading figure who believes in a government working for its people," the event invitation sent out by the local GOP party reads.
The invite was sent out before the event was canceled.
