South African entrepreneur gives stunning statistic about his country’s farmer murder crisis
Hersov went on to criticize the mainstream media for not accurately reporting on the farmer murder crisis in South Africa.
South African entrepreneur Rob Hersov said Friday that farmers in his home country are three times more likely to be killed than a police officer.
"If you're a farmer in South Africa, you are three times more likely to be murdered than a policeman, and a policeman is twice as likely to be murdered or killed than a civilian, which means the most dangerous job in South Africa is being a farmer," Hersov said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.
Hersov went on to criticize the mainstream media for not accurately reporting on the crisis of farmers being murdered in South Africa.
"From 2000 to today, if you take the number of farmers in South Africa, not just white farmers in South Africa, murdered, as a percentage of the 30,000 commercial farmers in South Africa, and you do a pro rata to the 3 million commercial farmers in America —then, from 2000 to today, 235,000 American farmers would have been murdered," he said. "Do you think the left-wing media would have noticed that?"
According to a State Department report from the Biden administration, South Africa has one of the highest crime rates in the world. Its murder rate of 34 per 100,000 population is tenth in the world.
Recently, President Donald Trump met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and defended his decision to take in white refugees from the country.
South Africa passed legislation in January of this year, the Expropriation Act of 2024, that allows for the seizure of land by the government without compensation under certain circumstances.
