Team USA basketball wins opening game against Serbia

Kevin Durant and LeBron James were key to the U.S. victory

Team USA basketball made a stellar showing on Sunday in a match against Serbia, besting their opponents 110-84. Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns and LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers were "key" to the success of Team USA, ESPN reported.

Durant, who missed a month due to a calf injury, received clearance to play only an hour before the game. He made his first eight shots, including five 3-pointers, delivering 23 points for Team USA.

James amassed 21 points for Team USA and "finished with nine assists and six rebounds in a command performance that slowly broke Serbia."

Durant and James "made 9 of their first 13 attempts and 17-of-30 for the game."

Nikola Jokić, 3-time NBA Most Valuable Player as center for the Denver Nuggets, led Serbia's team in scoring with 20 points.
