Congressional Democrats to campaign in red districts during August break
Congressional Democrats will also campaign on President Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," but by highlighting how some of the moves could allegedly harm some Americans instead of help them as the GOP has pushed.
Congressional Democrats are expected to hit vulnerable conservative districts nationwide next month as part of their August recess, where they will highlight recent cuts to federal health programs and social services.
The party aims to frame President Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" as harmful to the Americans whom Republicans vowed to help through the legislation.
Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren will appear on the grassroots movement MoveOn's “Won’t Back Down Tour," while California Rep. Ro Khanna will depart on a “Benefits Over Billionaires" tour.
Democratic Rep. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona will hold "Accountability Summer" rallies, Politico reported Thursday.
“Donald Trump ran for office promising to lower costs on day one,” Warren told the outlet. “Our secret, super-duper strategy is to get out there and tell the truth … that Donald Trump has taken a bad situation and made it worse.”
The MoveOn "Won't Back Down Tour" will include stops in Arizona GOP Reps. Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert's districts, and Republican Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon's swing district.
Democrats will also host town halls where they can hear from constituents directly, which would be a contrast to guidance for Republicans from the National Republican Campaign Committee. The committee has advised Republican lawmakers to connect with constituents in other formats next month.
