Envoys from Iran and U.S. agree to additional talks over Tehran’s nuclear program: Report
The first round of indirect talks included U.S. Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei
Envoys from Iran and the United States started talks on Saturday in Oman over Tehran’s nuclear program.
The two sides agreed to hold further negotiations next week, according to an Associated Press report.
Trump has said he is considering authorizing airstrikes on nuclear sites in Iran if a formal agreement isn't reached.
The AP reported that U.S. Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Oman on Saturday morning.
He reportedly came there from Russia on a private jet after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed on X that the “indirect talks” have started.
“These talks will be held at a location planned by the Omani host, with representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States seated in the halls and sides, conveying their points of view and positions to each other through the Omani Foreign Minister,” Baghaei wrote.
