Four Republicans on Wednesday joined 210 Democrats to block South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace's censure vote of Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar for reposting a video criticizing conservative political activist Charlie Kirk after his assassination.

Mace introduced the censure resolution, quoting a video that Omar reposted and citing an interview the Democrat did that Mace said “smeared” Kirk, NOTUS reported.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot last week at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point USA event. The alleged assassin, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has been arrested and charged with Kirk's murder.

The censure resolution would have formally reprimanded Omar and stripped her of her committee assignments.

The House Republicans who joined Democrats were Tom McClintock, of California; Mike Flood, of Nebraska; Jeff Hurd, of Colorado; and Cory Mills, of Florida.

Mills is also facing a censure resolution introduced by Texas Democratic Rep. Greg Casar for allegations of domestic violence and stolen valor. Democrats were expected to drop the resolution against Mills if the one against Omar failed.

After the Omar censure vote failed on Wednesday, Mace posted on X, "Tonight, 210 Democrats and 4 Republicans sold out and chose to protect Ilhan Omar, a woman who mocked the cold-blooded assassination of an innocent American husband and father, who has openly supported ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood, and who has repeatedly incited political violence.

"They didn’t stand with Charlie Kirk. They didn’t stand with the millions of Americans mourning his death. They stood with the one who mocked his legacy. They showed us exactly who they are, and we won’t forget."

Omar responded to the failed censure vote on X, posting, "Thank you to my colleagues for having my back and not furthering lies on the House floor. Appreciate them safeguarding first amendment protections and the usage of the censure. Finally some sanity in the House."
