Here are the 12 House Republicans who went against Trump over the GENIUS Act
Despite the opposition, it passed in a bipartisan 308-122 split, which saw 102 Democrats vote in favor of the legislation.
A dozen Republican lawmakers on Thursday voted against the GENIUS Act, which President Donald Trump signed into law on Friday, including Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who opposed the bill over its stance on Central Bank Digital Currency.
Greene claimed on Wednesday that she was happy to remain a hard "no" on the legislation because it did not ban the federal reserve from issuing a central bank digital currency.
Other hardline conservatives like Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs also rejected the final version of the bill. Despite the opposition, it passed in a bipartisan 308-122 split, which saw 102 Democrats vote in favor of the legislation.
Here are the 10 other Republicans who voted no on the bill:
Arizona Rep. Eli Crane
Georgia Rep. Austin Scott
Idaho Rep. Russ Fulcher
Maryland Rep. Andy Harris
Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison
Ohio Rep. Warren Davidson
Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry
Texas Rep. Chip Roy
Texas Rep. Michael Cloud
Virginia Rep. Morgan Griffith.
Trump praised the passage of the legislation in a statement during the bill signing Friday, claiming the GENIUS Act was a "very important act" that could be "revolutionary."
"This could be perhaps the greatest revolution in financial technology since the birth of the internet itself," Trump said. "A lot of people are saying that. What do you guys think? If you say yes, I'm saying yes."
