Six House Democrats on Wednesday night voted with the vast majority of Republicans to end the federal government shutdown, which has stretched on for over 40 days and became the longest shutdown on record.
President Donald Trump signed the continuing resolution that formally ended the government shutdown at the White House. The resolution funds military construction, Veterans Affairs, the Department of Agriculture, and Congress through Sept. 30, and the rest of the government through Jan. 30, 2026.
The resolution also gives backpay to many federal workers and reinstates employees who were fired at the start of the shutdown.
Here are the six House Democrats who crossed party lines to reopen the federal government:
California Rep. Adam Gray
Maine Rep. Jared Golden
New York Rep. Tom Suozzi
North Carolina Rep. Don Davis
Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar
Washington Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez
Two House Republicans also crossed party lines to reject the bill. Those are Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Greg Steube of Florida.
