The top Democrat on the House Administration Committee released a report on Monday that defends the work of the chamber's Jan. 6 select committee amid harsh criticism from House Republicans.

The report authored by New York Rep. Joe Morelle follows a Dec. 17 report from House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga.

In the report, Morelle argued that Loudermilk's report "neglected critical issues" in an attempt to "exonerate Trump."

Morelle specifically defended former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, of Wyoming, saying she "rightly observed" that Trump "lit the flame" of the Jan. 6 attack.
