House Ethics Committee says it is looking into allegations against Nancy Mace

The House Ethics Committee said Friday that it is considering ethics violation allegations against South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace, though it did not specify what allegations are. 

However, the committee said the matter was related to a referral last month from the Office of Congressional Conduct last month and that it will announce its decision and next course of action on or before March 2. 

"The Committee notes that the mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee," the panel said.

Just The News on Friday evening reached out to the committee, which is on federal holiday recess, for further information on the probe but did not hear back. 

In 2024, the committee looked into allegations that Mace, who is now running for South Carolina governor, overcharged a reimbursement program for lodging and other expenses in Washington, D.C. But Just the News on Friday could not find any published reports about the outcome of the matter.
