House Mike Speaker Johnson granted C-SPAN permission to have its own television cameras inside the U.S. House chamber on January 3, which is the opening day of 119th Congress as well as for the House speaker election on January 6th.

The House press galleries control the cameras in the chamber and the feed appears on C-SPAN live when the House is in session.

C-SPAN cameras are only permitted for special events after approval from the House speaker.

C-SPAN has long advocated for permission to use its cameras for day-to-day coverage in the House and Senate chambers but those requests have not been approved.
