Jordan opens probe into Virginia prosecutor allegedly ignoring threats against Stephen Miller
Jordan highlighted allegations that left-wing activist Barbara Wien potentially violated state and federal anti-doxing laws by posting flyers in Arlington, Virginia, last month that depicted Miller's face and address.
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan on Thursday notified a Virginia prosecutor that his committee is investigating allegations she ignored threats that were made against White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller.
Jordan highlighted allegations that left-wing activist Barbara Wien potentially violated state and federal anti-doxing laws by posting flyers in Arlington, Virginia, last month that depicted Miller's face and address. She has also been accused of attempting to intimidate Miller's wife at their Virginian home.
The chairman demanded information from Arlington County and the City of Falls Church prosecutor Parisa Dehghani-Tafti on her handling of the doxing and intimidation case, after the prosecutor allegedly sided with Wien's defense team's request that the judge overseeing the case limit the information state police could share with the FBI.
"Your unmistakably partisan actions suggest that you are willing to not only ignore threats of political violence against those with whom you disagree, but will actively side with those making the threats," Jordan wrote in a letter to Dehghani-Tafti.
"The Miller family deserves the same protections afforded to all Americans, particularly when it comes to feeling safe in their own home," he continued. "The appearance that you have allowed your political bias to influence an investigation
involving a senior Trump Administration official gives rise to substantial federal concerns."
Jordan requested that Dehghani-Tafti provide all communications and documents regarding the case that has been submitted to a court, all documents and communications from employees in her office related to Miller, his wife, or Wien, and all communications and documents that the prosecutor's office shared with Wien or her counsel.
The deadline for Dehghani-Tafti's response is 10 a.m. Eastern on Nov. 27.
