The late Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham's office announced Friday that the South Carolinian's memorial services will be held at the end of the month and will take place in both Washington, D.C., and his home state.

The memorial services will be held in Washington on Tuesday, July 28, and the next day in South Carolina. The South Carolina services will take place in Columbia and Pickens County.

The office did not state where in Washington the memorial will take place. But fellow South Carolina Republican Sen. Tim Scott indicated Thursday that it would take place at the Washington National Cathedral.

"The process of figuring out when the National Cathedral would be made available at the exact same time that the global leaders who want to come and all the other national leaders who will be there has made it a little more difficult," Scott said.

The cathedral has long served as the funeral site for many high-profile political figures, including the late former President Jimmy Carter and former Vice President Dick Cheney.

The service comes as Graham's sister, Darline Graham Nordone, serves the remainder of her brother's term and a special election will take place next month to determine who runs on the Republican ticket for a full term in November.
