Randy Fine calls for House to cancel subscription to WSJ over Epstein story
Trump announced on Thursday that he would sue the Wall Street Journal for its publication of the story.
Florida GOP Rep. Randy Fine on Thursday night called for the House of Representatives to cancel its subscription and contract with the Wall Street Journal, after the outlet published a story that suggested certain ties between President Donald Trump and the late, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump on Thursday strongly rejected the story, which claimed that he had contributed to former Epstein associate Ghislane Maxwell's 50th birthday project for the late financier in 2003, which consisted of notes from close friends. He also said he would sue the outlet.
Fine posted on social media that he would be introducing a bill that would end the subscription services between the House and the Wall Street Journal.
"Americans shouldn’t be paying for disgusting and filthy rags," he added in the post on X. "I have also directed my entire staff to delete their taxpayer-funded WSJ accounts."
The comment comes as the Trump administration faces backlash for its handling of the Epstein case.
