Texas GOP Rep. Randy Weber on Monday called for the United States to boycott Ireland after the country announced plans to ban imports from Israeli businesses operating in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

The Irish parliament debated the plans last week, which could also impact U.S. businesses in both countries because of federal law that bans American companies from participating in foreign-led boycotts against Israel.

Weber previously claimed the move "reeks of antisemitism" and vowed to continue standing with Israel in its war with Hamas. He also pushed the U.S. and President Donald Trump to put pressure on Ireland to withdraw its bill.

"Ireland should be boycotted in every single way possible," Weber insisted on the "Just The News, No Noise" TV show. "It's unbelievable that they would take that [position] and say that ... Everybody should ignore Israel, our greatest friend.

"I would love to see President Trump get involved with that. You're talking about tariffs or some other ways that we could put the quietus on Ireland," he continued. "There are some things that we should attest to some things we should attack, and I think for President Trump, I would hope they would take that one on."
