The Associated Press projects that Republicans will have a majority in the House of Representatives, which would give the party full control of Congress.

As of press time, 218 seats have been called for the GOP and 208 have been called for Democrats, with nine races outstanding.

NewsNation/Decision Desk HQ projected the result earlier in the week.

Taking control of the House means Republicans will enjoy subpoena power and control of committees in the lower chamber. In addition, the GOP took control of the Senate and the White House. Both House Speaker Mike Johnson and new Senate Majority Leader John Thune have vowed to support President-elect Donald Trump's agenda in their respective chambers.
