Senate passes National Defense Authorization Act

The Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act on Wednesday, sending it to President Trump's desk for his signature.

The over 3,000-page annual defense bill passed 77-20, giving the Defense Department $901 billion in military spending for fiscal year 2026, which is about $8 billion more than the Trump administration requested, The Hill reported. The House of Representatives passed the bill last week.

The NDAA includes a pay increase of 4% for military service members, improved military housing, $400 million in aid for Ukraine over the next two years, and a restriction on U.S. investment in China.

The bill will also withhold a portion of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s travel budget until he turns over unedited footage of U.S. military strikes against alleged drug boats in the Caribbean.

Additionally, the NDAA repeals the 1991 and 2002 authorizations of use of military force for the Gulf and Iraq wars.
