Texas GOP Rep. Weber predicts Trump will put sanctions on Russia if peace isn't being negotiated
Trump on Thursday called for a 30-day ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war to work toward formal peace negotiations.
Texas GOP Rep. Randy Weber predicted Thursday that President Donald Trump will place sanctions on Russia if an end to the war isn't being negotiated.
"He's going to put sanctions on them," Weber said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "They're probably going to be the hardest on Putin for all these things that he is threatening to do. And let me tell you something, when Donald J. Trump threatens, you better believe him and take him at his word."
Trump on Thursday called for a 30-day ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war to work toward formal peace negotiations.
"Talks with Russia/Ukraine continue," Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. "The U.S. calls for, ideally, a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. Hopefully, an acceptable ceasefire will be observed, and both Countries will be held accountable for respecting the sanctity of these direct negotiations."
Trump said if the ceasefire was not respected, the U.S. would impose more sanctions.
"He loves America," Weber said, referencing Trump. "He loves this country, and he's trying to get it back on track."
