Democrats in the Senate are trying to determine if there is an investigation into Justice Department official Emil Bove following three whistleblowers coming forward amid his nomination to sit on the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.

Sens. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Cory Booker, D-N.J., requested information about an investigation after a third whistleblower said Bove misled the Senate Judiciary Committee, according to The Hill newspaper

“As the Senate approaches a final vote this week on Mr. Bove’s nomination to serve as United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit, it is imperative that Senators exercise their constitutional duty of advice and consent with full knowledge of Mr. Bove’s actions,” the senators wrote in a letter.

If Bove is confirmed, it is for a lifetime appointment on the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.

According to the Democratic senators, the whistleblowers allege Bove abused his authority while working at the DOJ.

He also played a part in helping to end the prosecution against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, according to The Washington Post

“We therefore request that you clarify for Senators whether your office is undertaking any investigations of or related to Mr. Bove," the letter reads. "In the event these whistleblower complaints and other reports have not already prompted investigations by your office, we urge you to undertake a thorough review of these disclosures and allegations.”
