Family of Renee Good files lawsuits over her killing by immigration officer during protests
One lawsuit filed against the U.S. government alleges wrongful death, and the other lawsuit alleges a conspiracy to interfere with civil rights.
The family of Renee Good filed a lawsuit on Thursday against the U.S. government and several immigration officials, alleging wrongful death and violations of federal law stemming from her killing by an immigration officer during a federal operation in Minneapolis.
The two lawsuits were filed by her brother Brent Ganger and her partner, Becca Good, the Associated Press reported.
One lawsuit filed against the U.S. government alleges wrongful death caused by battery, assault, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The other lawsuit, which names as defendants immigration officials, including former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, alleges a conspiracy to interfere with civil rights.
Renee Good, a mother of three children, was fatally shot on Jan. 7 during protests against immigration operations across Minneapolis.
