Federal judge rules Trump administration can go through with layoffs of government employees
A group of unions that represent government workers requested that the Trump administration be blocked from conducting mass layoffs to reduce the size of the federal government.
A federal judge has ruled the Trump administration can continue with mass government layoffs, in a ruling Thursday against a group of government employee unions.
U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper stated in his ruling that the unions by federal law have to bring their challenges before the Federal Labor Relations Authority, not the court.
“The first month of President Trump’s second administration has been defined by an onslaught of executive actions that have caused, some say by design, disruption and even chaos in widespread quarters of American society,” Cooper also wrote in his ruling.
