House Ethics Committee opens investigation into Florida Rep Cory Mills
Mills has been accused of violating campaign finance laws, receiving special favors as a lawmaker, engaging in sexual misconduct, and misusing congressional resources, according to a press release.
The House Ethics Committee on Wednesday announced it was creating a new subcommittee to investigate a wide range of allegations against Florida GOP Rep. Cory Mills.
Mills has been accused of violating campaign finance laws, receiving special favors as a lawmaker, engaging in sexual misconduct and misusing congressional resources, according to a press release from the committee.
The lawmaker's office declined to provide an immediate comment to Just The News on the probe, but said it will provide one later.
South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace also introduced her own resolution Wednesday to censure Mills and remove him from committees, and accused the committee of trying to silence her resolution.
“These allegations are far too serious to ignore,” Mace said in a statement. “A Member of Congress accused of assaulting women, profiting off federal contracts from his seat, and inflating or falsifying his service record has no business anywhere near national-security committees.
"This isn’t about partisan politics, it’s about protecting the integrity of this institution and the safety of women," she added.
The committee has yet to announce who will serve on the panel.
