Judge dismisses Lindsay Clancy jury again after failure to reach unanimous verdict

Judge William Sullivan dismissed jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial yet again, after they failed to reach a unanimous verdict.

While he did not declare a mistrial, the dismissal marks the failure of nearly a week of deliberations. He previously issued a rare Tuey-Rodriguez charge, stressing the importance of the jury reaching a verdict, in a bid to foster consensus.

Earlier on Thursday, the judge reminded jurors of their duty to follow his instructions and repeated the standard for finding or rejecting reasonable doubt.

Defense Attorney Kevin Reddington, the same day, had demanded the judge remove a holdout juror, accusing them of not listening to court instructions.

Clancy stands accused of murdering her three children. While she has admitted to the act, she has claimed she suffered from severe mental illness and should not be held criminally responsible.

The case has become a focal point in the culture war, with many women rallying behind Clancy as a feminist icon and participating in viral social media trends to support her.
