Judge reminds Lindsay Clancy jurors they're 'required to follow my instructions'

The judge in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial issued additional instructions to the jurors after they once again failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the case.

"First off, I want to remind you that you are required to follow my instructions on the law as I gave them to you," Judge William Sullivan said. "I also want to, at this point, go over the instruction that I gave you about reasonable doubt."

He reminded jurors that the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt fell on the prosecution.

"Proof beyond a reasonable doubt does not mean proof beyond all possible doubt," he added.

Clancy stands accused of murdering her three children. While she admits to the act, she has argued she was suffering from severe mental illness and should not be held criminally responsible.

The case has attracted national attention and become a focal point in the gender wars, with many women rallying behind her as a feminist icon and embracing viral social media trends to back her.

The judge previously was forced to issue a rare Tuey-Rodriguez charge, essentially a more forceful reiteration of jury instructions, highlighting the importance of jurors reaching a verdict.
