Suspect extradited from Afghanistan over deadly Kabul airport bombing appears in US court Wednesday
Officials have accused Mohammed Sharifullah of being a part of the Islamic State group’s Afghanistan affiliate called ISIS-Khorasan.
The Afghanistan male suspected of helping in 2021 suicide bombing at the Kabul airport in which 13 U.S. service member were killed is set to appear Wednesday in federal court in Virginia.
President Donald Trump Tuesday night announced in his address to Congress announced the extradition of the suspect, Mohammed Sharifullah.
He is charged in connection with giving foreign material to a terrorist organization being a part of the Islamic State group’s Afghanistan affiliate ISIS-Khorasan, according to the Associated Press.
"As President Trump just announced, I can report that tonight the FBI, DOJ, and CIA have extradited one of the terrorists responsible for the murder of the 13 American soldiers at Abbey Gate during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal," FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed on the social media platform X on Tuesday night.
