Kyrsten Sinema's ex-bodyguard, lover arrested after allegedly breaking into her home

Former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema's, I-Ariz., ex-bodyguard and one-time lover was arrested this month over an incident in which he allegedly broke into her home and threw nearly two dozen paintings into her pool.

Matthew Ammel was arrested on Sept. 17 over the incident, according to NBC News. He allegedly broke into Sinema's home and demanded that she post a video to social media, threatening to throw a painting into her pool for every five minutes that she failed to comply. He ultimately threw 22 paintings into the pool during the incident.

Earlier this year, Ammel's ex-wife sued Sinema for "alienation of affection" under a North Carolina law. Though Sinema sought to dismiss the suit,  a North Carolina judge allowed the case to move forward this month.

Sinema was a relative moderate during her time in Washington, and she ultimately left the Democratic Party.
