Three Manhattan brothers each sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking
Brothers Oren, Alon and Tal Alexander were convicted in March of drugging and raping women across decades and using their wealth and social status to lure women to parties and luxury homes.
Three brothers, who were known among Manhattan's elite, were sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison each for leading a years-long sex trafficking conspiracy.
Brothers Alon, Oren and Tal Alexander were convicted in March of drugging and raping women across decades and using their wealth and social status to lure women to parties and luxury homes.
Judge Valerie Caproni delivered the sentences after the brothers' defense attorneys asked for a maximum of 15 years for each brother. Nearly a dozen victims spoke at the sentencing and most asked for life sentences, according to BBC News.
"Your conduct was monstrous," Caproni said before sentencing the brothers. "Your crimes wreaked havoc on their lives."
All three brothers continue to deny any wrongdoing and are expected to appeal the convictions.
The sentencing comes after 11 women spoke at the sentencing, and a 12th asked prosecutors to read a victim statement on her behalf, according to The New York Times.
One victim, who testified under the pseudonym Maya Miller, claimed she was raped by Tal Alexander in a shower while she was visiting him in the Hamptons in 2014.
“What happened to me was not a misunderstanding. There was no confusion. Tal Alexander raped me," she declared. "I carry a quiet funeral within me for the person I might have become had this never happened to me.”
Prosecutors argued the brothers began engaging in acts of sexual violence as high school students in Miami. Oren and Tal Alexander eventually made their way up to the Manhattan real estate scene, regularly selling million-dollar homes and frequenting New York and Miami nightlife hot spots with Oren’s twin Alon, the Times said.
Two civil lawsuits were filed in 2024 that accused the 39-year-old twins of rape, which prompted more women to come forward with their own stories about all three brothers. The twins and Tal were later arrested in December 2024 in Miami.
The brothers still face approximately two dozen civil lawsuits accusing them of sexual assault and rape.
