Prosecutors reveal Charlie Kirk murder suspect told roommate he wishes 'he hadn't done it' in clip
Lance Twiggs, who was Robinson's roommate and romantic partner, allegedly told a prosecutor that he saw Robinson the day after Kirk's assassination and that he was walking "around a lot" within their apartment.
Prosecutors in Utah on Thursday played audio recordings of Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin Tyler Robinson's roommate in court, where he claimed Robinson told him a day after the shooting that he wished "he hadn't" fatally shot the conservative activist.
Lance Twiggs, who was Robinson's roommate and romantic partner, allegedly told a prosecutor that he saw Robinson the day after Kirk's assassination and that he was walking "around a lot" within their apartment.
Twiggs said in the recording that he asked Robinson "if what he said was true the night before," to which Robinson allegedly admitted that it was, according to CBS News. The comment was referring to an alleged note Robinson left Twiggs about the shooting.
"[He] started crying a little bit and said he wishes he hadn't done it," Twiggs said, before adding that Robinson then resumed pacing and "doing stuff, I think just to keep himself busy or distracted or something."
Twiggs also said he left the apartment shortly after the conversation because Robinson said he was going to turn himself in, and he didn't want to be there "regardless of what went down."
The revelation comes after prosecutors gave Twiggs immunity for the statements, meaning what he said cannot be used against him in a potential criminal case. Twiggs has not been charged with any wrongdoing.
The partner also claimed that he had never spoken to Robinson about Kirk before the assassination and that most political discussions the pair had revolved around President Donald Trump and current events.
Robinson's defense attorneys previously attempted to block the release of the audio, arguing that prosecutors would try to characterize it as a confession and undermine Robinson's right to a fair trial if the media reported on the statements.
Robinson has not entered a plea related to the Sept. 10 shooting so far but has been charged with aggravated murder.
