Supreme Court temporarily pauses Trump's latest Alien Enemies Act deportations

The Supreme Court dealt a setback to President Trump's effort to rapidly deport certain illegal immigrants in the U.S. to El Salvador. 

The high court on Saturday temporarily paused the Trump administration’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to fast-track deportations of migrants to El Salvador.

Prior to the Supreme Court's order, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed an emergency appeal seeking to bar the administration from deporting a group of Venezuelan migrant detainees under the Alien Enemies Act.

The Supreme Court's temporary order prevents the administration from removing Venezuelans held in the Bluebonnet Detention Center "until further order from this court."
