Following a roundtable meeting at the White House to discuss the state of college sports and what can be done about it, President Donald Trump said he will write an executive order within a week that would "solve all of the problems" discussed at the televised event.

Trump was joined in the East Room by about 50 people from various sports backgrounds. Among the participants were Marco Rubio, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, New York Yankees president Randy Levine, NCAA president Charlie Baker, former coaches Nick Saban and Urban Meyer; sports executives such as NBA commissioner Adam Silver, CEO of the USA Olympic Committee Sarah Hirshland, and New England Patriots president Jonathan Kraft; and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The common theme was that there needs to be federal legislation to fix the problems caused by Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), according to ESPN. That is how college athletes are allowed to make money, which resulted in payments of over $4 billion to student athletes last year.

Trump was particularly upset at the federal judge who issued a ruling that opened the floodgates to students being paid like that. He then asked if the case had been appealed and was told by one of the participants that it had gone to the Supreme Court, which ruled 9-0 to uphold the decision.

"I will have an executive order within one week, and it will be very all-encompassing," Trump said. "And we're going to put it forward, and we're going to get sued, and we're going to see how it plays, OK, but I'll have an executive order, which will solve every problem in this room, every conceivable problem, within one week, and we'll put it forward. We will get sued. That's the only thing I know for sure."
