Trump touts own endorsement record as media focuses on Mamdani
Three Mamdani-backed candidates won House primaries in the New York City area on Tuesday evening, with two successfully ousting incumbent lawmakers.
President Donald Trump on Wednesday complained that the media was focusing on the success of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's endorsed candidates, rather than his own after the Tuesday primaries.
Three Mamdani-backed candidates won House primaries in the New York City area on Tuesday evening, with two successfully ousting incumbent lawmakers. Trump's candidates, meanwhile, also swept Republican contests.
"Mayor Mamdani pulled through 3 solid Communists, and has received loud and universal applause from the Fake News Media," he posted on Truth Social. "Congratulations Mr. Mayor! I went 16-0 last night, helping to elect wonderful American Patriots, and the Media doesn’t say a word. Over the last two years, my endorsement has netted 259 Primary WINS, and almost no losses, with Zero media attention!!! FAKE NEWS."
Much of the evening's media attention focused on the Mamdani-aligned candidates and their ouster of incumbents. By contrast, Trump largely endorsed incumbent lawmakers and even endorsed both candidates in the South Carolina gubernatorial primary runoff.
