The interim U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., is suggesting individuals threatening employees at the Department of Government Efficiency could be prosecuted.

"Our initial review of the evidence presented to us indicates that certain individuals and/or groups have committed acts that appear to violate the law in targeting DOGE employees," the federal attorney, Edward Martin Jr., said Monday on the social media platform, X.

He also sent a letter to billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who runs the newly created agency, in which he said he was made aware that some of his employees were being targeted.

He also said in the letter that the threats would not be tolerated and legal action would be taken if necessary.

"We are in contact with FBI and other law enforcement partners to proceed rapidly," Martin said. "We also have our prosecutors preparing."

Musk recently hired a team of six software engineers between the ages of 19 and 24 as members to work for DOGE.

Some of the engineers had allegedly received threats on the platform Reddit, which Musk called out
