Gabbard criticizes Biden administration's policy on Russia, asks what is goal in 'war with Russia'

Former Democrat congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is criticizing the Biden's administration foreign policy toward Russia, saying it continues to dodge the question of what is the United States' goal in its "war with Russia" and when asked uses "Ukrainians as our proxy."

"Every time this Admin has been asked what the goal of our war with Russia is, using Ukrainians as our proxy, they’ve dodged the question by declaring the president of Ukraine will make that decision & the U.S. will follow," Gabbard, a former Democratic presidential candidate who is an outspoke critic of her party, posted Wednesday on the social media site Truth Social.

Russia invaded Ukraine in mid February. The U.S. and other Western nations have continued to provide financial and military support to Ukraine and its president, Vladimir Zelensky, in its fight against Russia. Zelensky has thus far vowed not to surrender. 

"I reaffirmed my commitment that the United States will stand by Ukraine as it defends its democracy and support its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of unprovoked Russian aggression," Biden said earlier this month.

While Russia is global rival of the United States, it's unclear what Gabbard meant about a "war" directly with the country.

Gabbard, of Hawaii, also said in her tweet: "The most important foreign policy position our country has faced in the last 60 years is not being made by US Congress or an American president, but by the leader of a foreign country. ... If handing over American sovereignty to a foreign country isn’t treason, what is?"
