Here are the Trump officials who joined the president in Alaska for bilateral meeting with Putin
Both presidents brought several of their high-ranking officials to the meeting, which is still ongoing, including Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday met in Anchorage, Alaska for a bilateral meeting that is expected to focus on achieving peace with Ukraine.
Both presidents also brought several of their high-ranking officials to the meeting, which is still ongoing, including Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Trump also brought Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
The leaders are also expected to engage in a bilateral lunch meeting, according to the White House, which will include U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and chief of staff Susie Wiles, per Politico.
Rubio's and Witkoff's attendance at the closed-door meeting marks a change from previous meetings between the leaders, where Putin and Trump met alone privately.
It is not clear how long the meetings will last, but the pair are also expected to hold a joint press conference at the conclusion of the hours-long summit. The summit began at 3 p.m. Eastern.
