Macron calls Trump, blocked from crossing street for motorcade: 'Everything is frozen for you'
"Guess what? I'm waiting in the street because everything is frozen for you," French President Emmanuel Macron said
French President Emmanuel Macron called U.S. President Donald Trump as he was blocked by New York City police from crossing the street for Trump's motorcade, saying, "Everything is frozen for you."
Macron on Monday night called Trump while waiting on the sidewalk for the president's motorcade to pass through, Reuters reported.
"I have 10 people with me. I go to the French embassy," Macron told a police officer who was blocking him and members of his delegation from crossing the street, according to a video posted on X.
"I'm sorry, Mister President, I'm really sorry," the police officer told Macron. "It's just that everything's been frozen right now. There's a motorcade coming right here. I'm sorry."
"If you don't see it, let me cross. I negotiate with you," quipped Macron, as he and other leaders will be involved in negotiations this week during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
As he waited at the barricade, Macron called Trump on the phone.
"How are you? Guess what? I'm waiting in the street because everything is frozen for you," Macron chuckled, adding that he would like to have a short discussion with Trump and Qatar about the war in Gaza.
