Prisoner exchange underway between Ukraine, Russia

A prisoner exchange is underway on Friday between Ukraine and Russia, according to President Trump and an anonymous senior Ukrainian official.

"A major prisoners swap was just completed between Russia and Ukraine. It will go into effect shortly," Trump posted on Truth Social. "Congratulations to both sides on this negotiation. This could lead to something big???"

The Ukrainian official told The Associated Press on Friday that the swap was not yet completed.

Russia didn't immediately confirm that the exchange was ongoing.

Last week, during a two-hour meeting in Istanbul, both Ukraine and Russia agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners each.
