Russia ready to send delegation to talk with Ukraine, report
Negotiations reportedly will reportedly center on whether Ukraine is willing it drop its interest in joining NATO
Russia said Friday the country is ready to send a delegation to Belarus to talk with Ukrainian officials, on the second day of a Russian invasion in which Russian troops are pushing into the Ukraine capital city of Kyiv.
The negotiation reportedly will be on whether Ukraine is willing it drop its interest in joining NATO, the issue that effectively provoked Russian President Vladimir Putin to attack neighboring Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is willing to discuss a non-aligned status for Ukraine. Moscow has demanded Ukraine drop its bid to join the Western-led North Atlantic Treaty Organization and adopt a neutral status, according to the Associated Press.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin is ready to send the delegation in response to that offer, the wire service also reports.
