Trump says he will call Putin after meeting with European leaders
Trump held a summit with Putin in Alaska on Friday to discuss terms for a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.
President Trump said Monday that he will call Russian President Vladimir Putin after meeting at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders in an effort to end the roughly three-year-long Russia-Ukraine war.
“I just spoke to President Putin indirectly, and we are gonna have a phone call after this meeting,” Trump told reporters gathered in the Oval Office between his meeting with Zelensky and the European leaders. He is expecting my call when we are finished with this meeting.”
The president is meeting with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
