AG Bondi fires ethics director at Department of Justice
The Department of Justice has not made clear the reason for Joseph Tirrell being let go.
Attorney General Pam Bondi fired the ethics director at the Department of Justice on Friday, according to multiple media reports.
The ethics director is in charge of advising officials in the department on how to handle conflicts of interest.
The former director, Joseph Tirrell, confirmed Monday on his LinkedIn account that he had been let go from his role, according to the news outlet Axios.
In his LinkedIn post, Tirrell cited his public service of more than a quarter-century, having been a U.S. Navy officer before moving to the FBI and eventually to the DOJ. He took on his last role as a senior ethics attorney in July 2023 under President Joe Biden.
The Department of Justice has not made clear the reason for Tirrell being let go.
Tirrell was let go the same day about 20 other employees who were involved in investigations into President Donald Trump were fired.
