In a bid to shore up security around federal immigration operations, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered Justice Department agents to be stationed at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities nationwide.

Bondi’s order follows the death of one detainee and two others critically wounded in Wednesday’s shooting at a Dallas ICE facility.

Under the order, Justice Department agents will guard ICE properties and intervene “wherever ICE comes under siege,” according to Bondi’s post on social media. She also directed the Joint Terrorism Task Forces to investigate and disrupt individuals or groups suspected of targeting federal officers or obstructing law enforcement actions.

Bondi framed the move as part of her broader commitment to “safeguard federal agents, protect federal property, and immediately arrest all individuals engaged in any federal crime.”

She also directed prosecutors to pursue the heaviest available charges—including conspiracy, assault, civil disorder, or terrorism offenses—against those who engage in acts of violence or obstruction against federal agents.
